Printable Kindergarten Activities for the Whole Year
In a kindergarten classroom, we know how important it can be to have simple activities on hand when we find ourselves with extra time. In this post, I’m going to share some Printable Kindergarten Activities that are fun for students and easy for teachers to keep on hand!
Fun Printable Activities for Kindergarten
I have put together a set of fun kindergarten worksheets that are perfect for extra pockets of time! These seasonal printables include a variety of activities that practice academic skills in a fun way. Here are some examples of the activities available in the set:
- Dot-to-Dot: Students can practice counting as they connect the dots to complete several seasonal pictures.
- Color by Code: These pictures include a variety of codes to practice skills like counting, number identification, word families, and more! Students will color in a seasonal picture based on the code.
- Trace and Color: For some extra fine motor practice, students can trace four seasonal pictures and then color them in.
- Roll and Color: Students can practice number identification and counting as they roll dice and then color in objects based on the number they rolled.
- Letter and Word Search: Your students can practice identifying letters and words with different activities like a letter maze, spin and search activity, or a word search.
- Drawing: Students follow the step-by-step instructions to draw a picture, then they can write a sentence to go with it.
- Counting: There are many ways that students can practice their number sense skills through printable counting activities, such as count-and-graph or count-and-write worksheets.
5 Ways to Use Printable Kindergarten Activities
These fun seasonal activities are easy to prep and have on hand for those moments when you need something to keep your students engaged. Here are five ways that you can use these printable kindergarten activities in your classroom:
1. Early Finishers
First, these worksheets are perfect for early finishers! You can print and assemble monthly packets that students can keep in their desks or cubbies. That way, when they finish their work early, they can quietly grab their early finisher packets and choose a page to work on. Since the activities feel more like puzzles and games than “work”, students are excited to pull out their early finisher packets!
2. Transition Time
There are often “between times” in the classroom, when you’ve finished one classroom activity but it’s not quite time for the next transition. It’s also common to find yourself with extra time when a schoolwide assembly or activity finishes up earlier than expected. It can be tricky to come up with meaningful and engaging activities on the spot!
These printable activities can be a helpful option in those situations! If you already have the packets assembled, it just takes a moment to have students pull them out of their desks and get to work. This allows you to make the most of those flex times that pop up in your daily schedule! Plus, it gives everyone a chance to work quietly and regroup before transitioning to the next activity.
3. Independent Work Time
There are moments when you need to review a concept with a handful of students, address an issue with an individual student, or take an urgent phone call from the office. We all know what can happen in a kindergarten classroom when the rest of the class is waiting! It’s helpful to have some independent work tasks ready to go in these moments.
When you have some printable activities on hand, you can direct your students to pull out their packets and work quietly until you’re ready to move on. Since the seasonal activities are fun for students, they are often happy to work quietly on a dot-to-dot puzzle or color by code activity for a few minutes.
4. Sub Plans
