Using Boom Cards on SeeSaw and Google Classroom

If you are teaching virtually this year, or looking for some independent centers for your students in the classroom, Boom Cards are your best friend! They are hands-on, engaging task cards that can be played directly on any device that has internet access. Since many kindergarten teachers are using Seesaw to assign activities to their students, I created a tutorial to explain how to easily assign Boom Cards on Seesaw!

There are 2 different ways that you can assign Boom Card decks in Seesaw. Remember, when you are assigning your students Boom Cards in Seesaw, you are using a link to take them to the Boom Learning site to play. It is important to remember that Boom Cards can not be played directly in Seesaw. Your students need to click on the link that takes them to Boom Learning where they can securely play (with or without logging in).

Here are the two ways you can assign links to your students:

Using a Fast Pin Link

If you registered for a free boom membership, or you do not want your students to login to play, you must assign them a FAST PIN link. I like to think of a fast pin as practice play.

Your students do not login to play, but you will not be able to monitor their progress.

Fast pin links are good for up to 14 days, so be sure to assign just the decks they need to play for the week. You can always generate a new fast play link to play again. (Just a Note: Fast pin links are valid for 14 days if you sign up for a premium Boom account. If you have a free account, the fast play link will only be valid for 5 days).

If you need your students to turn in something after using the Boom Cards, you can have them take a picture or a screenshot of the final screen and upload that as an image.

Using a Hyperplay Link

If you have a paid membership, you can track how your students do when they play. You will need to create a Boom classroom to use this feature, and your students will need to login.

With a hyperplay link, you will be able to monitor your students progress, assign specific cards from a deck, and students will be able to “save” their work and pick up where they last left off.

Assigning Boom Cards on Another Platform

Sharing Boom Cards links is really easy. You can also assign Boom cards on other platforms like Microsoft Teams, Class Dojo, or Canvas. You can also send links to play via email.

Simply copy either a Fast Pin link or a Hyperplay Link, as shown in the video above, then paste the Boom link to create an assignment or make an announcement.
