Laminating Classroom Materials with Mead

As a kindergarten teacher, a functioning laminator is a top ten item I need in my classroom! It helps our learning material stand up to lots of wear and tear and keeps me from having to recreate our centers and classroom decor year after year. So I was really excited that Mead asked me to test out their ย brand new line of personal affordable laminators for the back to school season.

ย
I received the HeatSeal Pro Thermal 12.5 inch pouch laminator as well as theย EZAlignโ„ข 3 mil Thermal Lamination Pouches. Iย am loving the laminator so far! The sleek, white and gray exteriorย looks great and matches any home office or classroom decor!
One of my favorite features is the laminating carrier. This is perfect for small items you need laminated and you don’t want to waste a whole sheet of lamination. You simply cut out exactly what you need, place it in the laminating carrier, and run it through the machine! The remainder of the pouch can be used for any future lamination needs.
I used the machine to laminate some name practice cards from my Morning Work tubs. If you look closely at the laminating pouches, you’ll seeย an EZAlignโ„ข grid that disappears after lamination for crystal clear results!
This laminator can be used with 3mil and 5mil pouches on the hot setting, as well as a cold setting! It also comes equipped with a jam release lever that quickly clears jammed or misfed pouches. Weย all know what a pain jams can be!
The laminator warms up in as little as 3 minutes so you can quickly get to work. Time is of the essence as you’re prepping for your students, so this is great!
The laminating pouch fed through the machine quickly and smoothly.
It was warm when it finished, but cooled down fairly quickly.
You can see after the pouch went through the machine, the grid lines disappeared!
Cutting was really easy as well. I was able to cut right up against the card stock and no peeling occurred.
Now time for the dry-erase marker test! Because we do a lot of tracing with dry-erase marker for our morning work tubs as well as several other times throughout the day, this test was super important! I needed to make sure the marker would show up clearly and also erase sufficiently.
I’m happy to let you all know it passed the test!
Thank you Mead for letting me test out your new laminating machine! It is an absolute perfect addition to my classroom!
