These Read and Reveal Boom Cards are a fun and effective way to have your students use their phonics knowledge to help them sound out short vowel CVC words. This resource uses the online platform boomlearning.com. As your students are working on reading CVC words, you can assign them these Boom Cards to practice the words. They can be played from home and can also be used in your technology center in your classroom.

This bundle includes over 100 CVC words for your students to practice. Each short vowel has its own deck (plus one mixed vowel deck) so you can assign the specific words your kids need.

Why Boom Cards?

Whether you’re teaching your students virtually or in the classroom, you and your students will love these digital task cards!

You can assign Boom Cards as practice play for your students to work on reading CVC words, or with a Boom Learning membership (fee applies), you can track your students progress and get important data.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

You will receive a PDF document WITH A LINK to redeem the Boom Cards bundle.

The bundle includes a deck for the following vowels:

  • Short A words (31 cards)
  • Short E words (23 cards)
  • Short I words (24 cards)
  • Short O words (20 cards)
  • Short U words (20 cards)
  • PLUS a bonus deck of mixed short vowels (35 cards)

Each short vowel has its own deck so you can assign the specific vowels your kids need to practice.

Video tutorials for assigning the decks to your students is also included in this download.

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Your students will touch and say the sound for each letter (audio support is included), then blend the sounds together to decode the word.
  • After they feel comfortable with reading the word, they will drag the clothespins over to reveal two pictures. They will click on the picture that shows the word they read.

USING BOOM LEARNING:

To use Boom Cards, you must be connected to the Internet.

Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires.

For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with “Fast Pins,” (play provides instant feedback for self-grading Boom Cards). Fast Play is always a free way for students to engage with Boom Cards decks.
