More about this resource
Matching sounds to letters is such an important skill when teaching young learners how to use their phonics skills to read. This fun activity is perfect to help your students listen for sounds in words, and match them to letters. These spelling cards can be used during guided reading, literacy centers, word work, or small group centers.
During guided reading groups, I have my students verbally tell me the picture they see on the card. This way I can make sure they know what the picture is and if they can hear the sounds correctly. After they tell me the picture, I have them write the letters with a dry erase marker. If your students aren’t quite ready to write the letters, have them use a magnet letters instead.
What’s included?
- 63 short vowel spelling cards for ending sounds
Do your students need help identifying and writing beginning, middle and ending sounds too? You can find all of these activities in my CVC Words Spelling Cards Bundle.
