Collecting Shells & Building a Sandcastle {classroom management idea}

Five more weeks until summer vacation begins! If your class is anything like mine, you need to spice up the classroom management bit a little! So you can only imagine how excited I was when I walked by my cute little beach buckets I purchased for super cheap at Michaels and an *awesome* classroom management idea popped into my head!
{aren’t they cute!? I am obsessed with the colors!}
And these buckets turned into this!
Collecting Shells…

and building aย sandcastle!

{I used my little school is cool craft to cutesify it up a little but you def don’t need her for this to work!}

Here’s what you need to get started:

*Free Collecting Shells & Building a Sandcastle download from my shop
*cute paper
*magnets
*mod podge {if your magnets are not sticky}
*beach buckets

First I printed out the shells, bucket {on cute scrapbook paper of course}, and sandcastle pieces.

I decided to up-cycle this littleย advertisementย magnet and use it to adhere to the back of my shells.

{I wonder if companies know theirย advertisementย budget is used toward helping students all over the world ;)}
I cut theย magnetย up into little pieces and glued it onto the back of the shells with my handy dandy mod podge!

I am going to hang the bucket and the shells up on my whiteboard at school. I’m going to tell my students that they can collect shells by showing great classroom behavior.

When they collect 10 shells, they earn a piece of the sand castle!
I stored the extra sandcastle pieces in the beach bucket.

The goal is to build the entire sand castle to earn their prize!

This idea can definitely be modified to fit the needs of your class! You don’t have to use the two ideas together, they can be used as two separate tools! You can also have a bucket or a sandcastle for each table group if you don’t want this to be a whole group management tool. Whatever works best for you!
