As a first year teacher this year, I definitely learned a LOT! I learned a lot of new tricks, I learned a lot of new strategies and I learned a lot about myself as a person! But there’s one thing that sticks out in my mind the most as the BEST thing I learned.
So here it is!
Before the start of the school year, my co-teacher and I were working in our classrooms setting everything up for the first day, when she showed me the absolute coolest thing that I am STILL amazed with!
Erasing permanent marker!!!
What?!!?!? It’s a good thing I was sitting because I literally would have fallen over! How in the world can you erase permanent marker?!
Well, here’s how!
First of all, the trick is to laminate all of the things you want to use again before writing on them!
Then, write what you want with permanent marker! Imagine, no more dry-erase markers being rubbed off labels!
When the school year is over, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, throw your name tags away! Just use a rubber eraser to erase the permanent marker and use them again! The Earth will thank you 😉
I mean, how rad is this?!?! Think of all the things in your class that you can re-use over and over again! Name tags, labels, birthday candles, classroom jobs, bulletin board pieces. The possibilities are endless!
Since my students don’t have assigned seats, I use name tags for their cubbies.
